Welcome to Tires!

Our house is located on the sunny side of the valley directly above the center of the village Tiers at 1,100 metres above sea level. It is the last house at the end of the road, surrounded by meadows and the forests of Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park (UNESCO World Natural Heritage) which is located directly behind the house.

You can go on wonderful walks through the forest and mountains directly by foot from your home and leave the car untouched if you want. Each apartment has its own private outdoor space. On your balcony, terrace or in your private garden, you can have breakfast with the delightful panoramic view, or in the evening, enjoy the last sun rays relaxing on your deck chair maybe after a long day of hiking in the mountains, undisturbed by traffic, just the pure sound of nature. If you are looking for peace of mind in the heart of nature this is the right place for you

Origin of "Leitner"

Four hundred years ago Tiers was governed by the Lords of Völsegg. At that time, the plague arrived in the valley and the Lords of Völsegg decided to build a little chapel in honour of holy Sebastian, in order to protect them from the disease. After the construction, the key to the chapel was given to a trusted servant, who had to ring the bells daily and protect the building. In order to do so, he was given the right to build a small farm close to the chapel, which was then named “Leuthnergüetl” after the owner's daily job. (“Leuten” is the german word for ringing) With the passing of time, the name changed to the present name “Leitner”. Over the centuries, the house frequently changed owner, but the key was always kept in the house until the 20th century.
